Johan-Magnus Sjöberg

född i Östra Grevie 1953, tonsättare, organist och körledare, körpedagog. Verksam som tonsättare och organist och körledare

Mellan åren 1972-2003 kyrkomusiker i Sankt Hans kyrka, Lund, 2003-2021 organist och körledare i Lunds Allhelgonakyrka. Johan-Magnus har även varit verksam som lärare vid Musikhögskolan i Malmö, där han undervisade i kördirigering 1995-2008 och i ämnet gudstjänstmusik 2002-2008.

Mellan 2003-2006 var han också musikkonsulent i Lunds stift.

Han har tidigare också varit dirigent för bl.a Lunds Akademiska kör och varit förbundsdirigent i Sveriges kyrkosångsförbund både i Lunds stift och på riksnivå.

Som tonsättare är har han influerats av bland andra amerikanerna John Cage och Morton Feldman. Hans produktioner består av ett stort antal romanser, orgel och körmusik, bl.a 4 oratorier, ett flertal mässor bl.a en Requiemmässa från 2010 samt solokonserter, orkester- och kammarmusik, bl.a tre stråkkvartetter, en opera (Katarina och Martin en Passion)  och elektroakustisk musik.


1988 erhöll Johan-Magnus Lund Kulturstipendium, 1990 invaldes han i Föreningen Svenska Tonsättare och 1997 utsågs han till Årets Körledare av Körsam.

Johan-Magnus Sjöberg

was born in Östra Grevie, southern Sweden, in 1953. Composer, organist, choral conductor and choral pedagogue. Director of Music i Sankt Hans Church Lund, 1972-2003, director of music in  Allhelgonakyrkan 2003-2021  Lund, Sweden. J ohan-Magnus Sjöberg has also held a position as an university teacher at Malmö Academy of Music, where he taught Choir Conducting 1995-2008 and Church Service Music  2002-2008.


From 2003 to 2006 he served as a music advisory officer in the diocese of Lund.   He has also been the conductor of Lund Academic Choir for several years, as well as other choirs, and been the conductor of The Church of Sweden Choral Association, both at the diocese level and the national level.

As a composer he is highly influenced by american composers John Cage and Morton Feldman among others. His production is mainly centered around organ and choir music, orchestral and chamber music, solo concerts and electro-acoustic music. His listing of works contains four oratorios, several masses, a requiem and three string quartets, one opera to mention a few of his opuses.


In 1988 Johan-Magnus was awarded the cultural grant of the city of Lund, in 1990 he was elected a member of the Socitety of Swedish Composers, and in 1997 he was appointed Choral Conductor of the Year, by the Federation of Swedish Choir Associations.
